MUSCATINE, Iowa—Former Muscatine City Attorney Matthew Brick will have his license to practice law suspended for 30 days in August. This disciplinary suspension resulted from some information revealed in relationship to the Mandsager vs. City of Muscatine case, in which Brick admitted he shared information about the city’s proceedings to fire Mandsager with him without the city’s permission and aided him in finding grounds for a lawsuit of his own. In an affidavit, Brick stated: “In the months before Mandsager’s termination, council members communicated to me their desire to remove Mandsager from his position as city administrator. I communicated with Mandsager contrary to the interests of my client, the city, in this same time period.”

Later in the affidavit, Brick elaborated: “After the council voted to terminate Mandsager, I texted him, with reference to the council members who voted to terminate Mandsager’s contract: ‘These f—— just made you a lot of money.'”
