MUSCATINE, Iowa– The Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GMCCI) hosted their annual meeting and recognition night Thursday, March 24 at Geneva Golf & Country Club. The event highlighted membership milestones, transitioned the board chair position, honored volunteers, and celebrated the achievements of GMCCI staff. Attendees also enjoyed keynote speaker James Olson, who was a former Chief of Counterintelligence at the CIA. Mr. Olson spoke about his time catching spies trading CIA intelligence to the Russian KGB and offered insight into the current invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
The 2021 Chair of the GMCCI Board, Naomi DeWinter, passed the gavel to new Board Chair Gage Huston. GMCCI also recognized their Young Professional of the Year, Albert Samuel; Chamber Ambassador of the Year, Anne Carroll; and Volunteer of the Year, Diana Tank. Tank was honored with GMCCI’s Volunteer of the Year Award for her involvement in numerous community organizations including the Muscatine County Arts Council, Melon City Bike Cub, Muscatine Trails Committee, Muscatine Relay for Life, Muscatine’s Healthy Hometown Committee, and Muscatine’s Community Improvement Action Team.
