MUSCATINE, Iowa – The intersection of Grandview Avenue and Oregon/Warren streets will be closed for one week (June 21-25) for the underground installation of a section of a new force main through the south side of the intersection. The length of the closure is dependent on the weather.
Oregon will be closed to through traffic just north of the entrance to Grain Processing Corporation between Schley and Dewey avenues with a full closure of Oregon on the south side of the Canadian Pacific crossing. Access to businesses in that stretch of Oregon will be maintained.
Grandview Avenue is currently restricted to northbound traffic only from Musser to Pearl. However, a full closure of Grandview will be implemented just north of the White Street intersection. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto White Street to Division Street, and to Evans Street. Traffic will be able to return to Grandview by using Bleeker Street or continue on Evans to Main Street to continue north on Hershey and Mississippi Drive.
The dual use redundant force main will eventually run from Musser Park through the Grandview intersection and ending at the Muscatine Pollution Control Plant (Water and Resource Recovery Facility). The work complies with a DNR/EPA mandate to complete the installation of the dual use redundant force main by 2026 following emergency repairs to the existing force main following a collapse of a portion of the line in November 2017.
MUSCABUS BLUE ROUTE – With the intersection at Warren and Oregon closed June 21-25, those who need picked up by MuscaBus south of Oregon and Warren are asked to call the Transit office at 563-263-8152 to request a ride.
Drivers are reminded to slow down and use caution when travelling through construction zones, obey traffic control devices, and be aware of workers. Use an alternate route if possible.
