Group protests Muscatine school mask mandate

MUSCATINE, Iowa–At 8 a. m. Sept. 22, about 71 people held a protest at the Muscatine School Board Office over the district’s mask mandate. At a special school board meeting held Sept. 17 at 10 a. m., the board voted to require masks for pre-kindergarten through sixth grade students. The vote came after a federal judge issued a restraining order against state legislation forbidding schools from requiring students, staff, or visitors from wearing masks. The district’s mandate went into effect today.
