    Preparing fruits for winter

By Gail Nonnecke--Iowa State University Extension and Outreach AMES, Iowa--There is still plenty to do during the fall in preparation...

Ever since Flipped Out Furniture came to Muscatine last fall, I’ve been a huge fan of them. Becky and Josh Terry really have a talent for finding quality furniture and restoring or reimagining it into beautiful pieces that will last for generations.

A walk through their store on Second Street is always a treat. Right now, Flipped Out Furniture has lots of night stand sets ready to find a new home. You should go and check them out if you’ve been looking for something a little nicer than a TV tray to keep your glasses, phone, or current book on.

Even though Thanksgiving will look a little different this year due to the pandemic, there’s no reason not to make it a joyful affair with the people right in your own house. Nothing promotes family gatherings quite like a good dining room table, and Flipped Out Furniture’s beautiful farmhouse tables, created by Josh Terry, certainly fit the bill.

If you’re ready to dress up your home a bit, but aren’t keen on moving your new furniture yourself, Flipped Out Furniture will gladly deliver your purchases. In town delivery costs $60 and delivery outside the city limits costs $75, a reasonable investment for getting your new treasures home safely.

As the holidays approach, Flipped Out Furniture can help you add a festive touch, even without redecorating your entire house, with their phenomenal line of Pearl City Candles. Crafted by Josh Terry from 100% organic Iowa grown soy and 100% organic cotton wicks, these candles come in an unbelievable number of scents. Year-round, you can get candles inspired by local places and history. From Button Factory, to Cedar River, to Wildcat Den, and their most popular scent, Park Avenue, you can make your home a Muscatine classic any time of the year.

Flipped Out Furniture has seasonal candles, too. This winter, bring some holiday magic into your home with favorites such as Mistletoe or Jack Frost, or try something new, like their just released Farmhouse Christmas.

Wherever you want to put your Pearl City Candle, Flipped Out Furniture has the right size for you. Each scent of candle comes in sizes ranging from four to 16 ounces. Wax melts more your thing? Flipped Out Furniture has them too!

Always looking for new creative outlets, the Terrys recently added a line of hot process soap to Flipped Out Furniture’s offerings this summer. Made with natural, hydrating ingredients, like coconut, hemp, jojoba, and olive oils, these soaps feel heavenly to use. “Our customers have been raving about them, so on our date nights, sometimes we make soap,” said Becky Terry. “We have eight kids, so it doesn’t happen often, but when we do, we make a lot!”
