The Muscatine Community Schools has announced an international travel ban for school groups and probable limitations on other travel. This is being done as part of the national and state efforts to contain and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Since that announcement, the Muscatine Orchestra Boosters have decided to not adhere to that recommendation and to continue with a European trip over spring break. The Orchestra Booster trip is being made out of the scope of school district control and without the support or guidance of the district. This means the Orchestra Booster organization is assuming all legal liabilities for all members of the traveling party. The Muscatine School District’s liability insurance will not be available as this is a non-sanctioned trip.  Travel changes, possible quarantines, and any legal actions and/or expenses will not become the responsibility of the district.
