MUSCATINE, Iowa–Though Kari Finley did not start doing yoga in her teens like so many teachers say they do, she developed a passion for it as she discovered the many benefits it offers. As owner of Rock, Tumble and Roll (RTR) Gymnastics and a DanceFit teacher, Finley often got questions asking if she planned on adding yoga classes too. Initially, Finley hesitated. Between teaching gymnastics lessons and working full time, Finley felt too busy to add yoga into the mix. However, when she got the chance to complete her 200 hour registered yoga teacher certification, she knew the time had come. Following her certification, she opened Emerald Shay Yoga alongside RTR Gymnastics at the Arch (the former Skateland building) at 701 Orange Street, Muscatine.
At Emerald Shay, Finley offers many classes, including traditional vinyasa and hatha yoga as well as chair yoga. Finley also takes her classes on the road, teaching yoga at Ardon Creek Winery, Headquarters, and the Letts Library. In the future, Finley hopes to add both prenatal and restorative yoga classes to Emerald Shay’s schedule. She also gives private classes for individuals or groups. Finley routinely provides updated class offering on the Emerald Shay Facebook page.
With Emerald Shay Yoga just getting going, Finley looks forward to providing a new opportunity for people to refresh and renew themselves. “I’m so excited to be able to spread more healing in the world as we recover from a stressful year,” she said.
