Ladies and gentlemen, join me in congratulating the Muscatine High School graduating class of 2023! Our Muskies will take the stage this Sunday, May 21, at the Muscatine High School football stadium (weather permitting, of course, but please, no rain!). The graduation ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. with live-streaming via Discover Muscatine/Pearl City Media. We’ll share the stream on the Muscatine Community School District’s Facebook page, and I believe it should also be live on MPW Cable Channel Three via Pearl City TV.
As a school district employee, it’s been my honor to spend time with many students that make up the class of 2023. They are a great group of young people ready for their next steps in life. We’ll have students who graduate and head off to college, enter the workforce, and that will proudly serve our country. It’s a great time to be a Muskie, and this will be the third graduation ceremony I have attended since joining the #MuskieTeam. It also makes me feel old, realizing that I graduated from high school 21 years ago. . . AHHHHH!
Thank you to all Muscatine Community School District staff members that have supported the class of 2023. I hope you celebrate with them, knowing how much of a positive impact you have made on their lives and school experience.
Switching gears, I want to give a couple of quick, small-business shout-outs. The first is to my friend Jenny, owner of The Lost Brick, located inside the Lincoln Center Mall (across from Tee’s) off Park Avenue. The Lost Brick is all things Lego! Jenny is doing a great job, and I hope you’ll support her business. Learn more via her Facebook page by searching for The Lost Brick.
I must recognize Twisted Sister Pretzel Co. Let me tell you how good their pretzels and fresh-made lemonade are! They’re incredible! I met Jennifer Franklin, owner, and baker, during the Muscatine Area Farmer’s Market and was blown away by her business! See Jennifer (and Courtney Anderson) at the next market and reach out via their Facebook by searching Twisted Sister Pretzel Co. or their website at twistedsisterpretzelco.com.
That’s it for this week; take care, enjoy the nice weather (finally), and thanks for reading!
