MUSCATINE, Iowa–For more than 75 years, Clarks Muffler & Service at 103 Grandview Avenue in Muscatine has provided high quality vehicle repair services. When the Clark family put it up for sale, Josh and Molly Boyer saw it as an excellent opportunity for them to run a small business and continue its legacy. Molly Boyer explained: “We have been interested in owning a small business in Muscatine for several years, and when the opportunity arose to purchase Clarks, we knew we needed to strongly consider it. Clarks has a history of being a long standing, honest, well-run business and that was important to us.”
The Boyers also welcomed the opportunity to work with a well-established staff that had years of experience working in the auto repair field. Their mechanics, Donald Holladay and Mike Walker, each have over two decades of experience, with Holladay having 25 years of experience and his ASE Certification and Walker having 21 years of experience. Amber Schulte in the front office has finetuned the process of answering client questions and getting them in and out efficiently and Larry Staats knows just how to lend a helping hand in the shop to get the job done right. “It was also important that the employees, Amber, Donald, Mike, and Larry, wanted to stay at Clarks and be willing to give us a chance as new owners,” Molly Boyer shared.
As a full-service repair shop, Clarks Muffler & Service can take care of just about any vehicle problem you may experience. From simple repairs such as battery changes or windshield wiper replacements, to more involved jobs such as transmission work and replacement, engine repair and replacement, and exhaust work, Clarks has the knowledge, tools and parts to take care of it. They even do some more specialized work, such as installing towing accessories, hitches, and trailer wiring. “Basically, we offer most parts for vehicles except body work,” Molly Boyer elaborated.
Though the Boyers have only just started as the owners of Clarks Muffler & Service, they have already found that they love helping vehicle owners solve problems and get back on the road. “Providing a necessary service to our local community members and getting to know them is what we enjoy most,” Molly Boyer stated.
Always supporters of the Muscatine Community, the Boyers knew from the beginning that they wanted to join the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “We knew we wanted to join the Chamber because it has always been important to us to be a part of the Muscatine community, and by joining the Chamber, it outwardly shows that we have vested interest in participating locally,” said Molly Boyer. “The Chamber has done such a great job showcasing all of the local businesses and fun happenings around town, we wanted to be a part of that,” she added.
