MUSCATINE, Iowa–Since opening its doors in January, Headquarters has grown into one of the most happening bars in Muscatine. Located at 2108 Grandview Avenue, Headquarters has established itself as a happening spot known for good drinks and tasty food.
For owner Jerry Healey, opening his own bar ranked high on his bucket list. Early in 2020, he purchased the old Missterssippis building and set to work renovating it inside and out. Healey also partnered with Rick’s Ribs to offer some of the tastiest food in the South End. Now, Headquarters offers guests an extensive drinks list with many different craft beers from all over.
Along with offering a great dining experience, Headquarters also has a plethora of activities going on each week. Whether you look forward to bags league on Mondays, Wednesday wing nights, volleyball league on Thursday, live music on the weekend, or QuickE’s Taco truck’s guest appearance on Sundays, Headquarters has events designed to appeal to everyone.
In addition to their regular events, Headquarters has several special occasions coming up too. July 31, they will host their official grand opening with different fun ways to celebrate all day long. In September, they plan to hold their first ever music festival. In both the spring and fall, Headquarters has a car show, and in the future they may put on bike nights as well. “We’ve always got something going on,” enthused Headquarters Manager Tara Riggan. Headquarters provides the latest information about upcoming events on their Facebook page and encourages people to visit it often to see the newest activities on the calendar.
Throughout their first seven months in business, Riggan has found that Headquarters’ customers truly do give the bar its welcoming and inviting environment. “This place is always so full of good people,” said Riggan, adding that she most loves working at Headquarters because she likes nothing more than, “to be surrounded by good people, good food, good drinks, and good music, but mostly the people.”
In order to help bring more people to Headquarters and to give back to the community that treats Headquarters so well, Riggan recommended they join the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Seeing how they worked well with her father’s business, TanTara Transportation, she knew they could provide valuable opportunities to headquarters, too. “I jumped on board right away,” she shared. “They do so many good things for the community and so does Jerry, so it just seemed like a good fit.”
No matter if you need a place to celebrate and unwind with friends, get involved with outstanding social activities, or check out fun community events, Headquarters will prove the perfect fit for you. With open hours from 11 a. m. to 11 p. m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 to 2 a. m. Friday and Saturday, Healey, Riggan, and everyone else at Headquarters hopes you will stop out and pay them a visit soon.
