Nearly everyone knows about Almost Friday Fest by now, but have you heard about the Almost Fireworks Fest yet? Brenda Christensen stated “Everyone always seems to be looking for something to do before the fireworks start. We were excited when the chamber asked if the Almost Friday Fest Committee would like to add an event for Fourth of July.” The Keep Muscatine Beautiful Committee has been planning this new event for months to make this 4th of July one to remember in Muscatine, Iowa.
“The partnership with Keep Muscatine Beautiful goes back to early 2020 when we were looking at ways to program the riverfront with some family friendly activities and entertainment to lead into the fireworks. With such a great venue and summer setting, we hoped that it could be a memorable event with a day’s worth of events that take place on the 4th of July. Of course, as the history books will show, events weren’t able to be held to that extent during the pandemic. Fast forward to the beginning of 2021, when planning for the 4th of July and other yearly events took place, we really wanted to revisit this idea to see if it would be viable. “Chris and Brenda have been wonderful to work with and have fun ideas to use the same Almost Friday Fest template and expand it a bit.” -Erik Reader, president & CEO of Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry
“Unfortunately, the weather gods have prohibited Almost Friday Fest from happening in May and June. We really hope that people come out and enjoy Almost Fireworks Fest, the fireworks display which will follow, and get back to celebrating with friends and family.” -Reader
Several of Muscatine’s favorite bands will be on stage from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, along with food trucks and a beverage tent. There will also be some activities for the kids during this time. This event truly is for people of all ages, so bring the whole family.
The music will be a highlight of the evening on the Muscatine Riverfront and a great addition to the fireworks that everyone in town enjoys yearly. “We decided to go with local bands to keep the hometown feel of the day. The event will be free for everyone and will include fun things for everyone to do on the Riverfront while they wait for the fireworks.” Chris Boar stated. Cody Road from the Quad Cities will start out the evening, on stage from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 1st Impression will rock the stage from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The party is not over then, stick around to enjoy the fireworks show.
“Bring your lawn chairs down and enjoy the day.” Brenda
