MCC ag students learn about ag industry in Chicago

By Aubrey Frieden, Muscatine Community College farm management student

Muscatine Community College agriculture students were able to take a three day trip to Chicago March 18-20. On the first day, we went to the Museum of Science and Industry. The second day, we got to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo and the stock yards, which was very interesting. On our last day, we went to Fair Oaks Farms and took a tour through their dairy facility. Our last stop was CGB Hennepin Grain Elevator in Princeton, Illinois. We got to tour the elevator and see how they store grain and where they load barges that take grain up and down the Illinois River. All of these tours gave us opportunities to see different components of the agriculture industry, learn new things, and further our agriculture education.
