By Elsie Lewis and Avery Schroeder, Muscatine FFA reporters
It’s the time of year where we re-elect our FFA chapter officers! The Muscatine FFA Chapter has completed the ballot vote that decides which students will lead the chapter. Nine students out of the 300 members were selected by fellow FFA members to organize meetings, fundraisers, and loads more.
Emily King was elected the 2022-23 chapter president. The senior enjoys showing livestock, mainly cattle, and participating in other FFA events. She will be participating in the National Livestock Judging competition at the American Royal in Kansas City. Emily will be working closely with Vice President Bob Carver to organize and run chapter meetings. Bob is also a senior and enjoys participating in FFA competitions and selling beef sticks for our annual FFA fruit fundraiser.

Ella Schroeder and Becca Potter are the other senior officers in the chapter, and they serve as the secretary and treasurer. Ella has recently participated in the radio broadcasting competition, and placed third at the district competition. Becca has participated in parliamentary procedure and made it all the way to the state competition.
Junior officers, Danika Garrett and Camden Furnas, both have show interests in the livestock judging competitions. Danika is the treasurer. Camden is the sentinel, which requires him to give a warm welcome to chapter members. Chale Lewis, a sophomore, is also a treasurer. He will be participating in the soil judging competition and the ag sales competition as well as helping to organize FFA’s finances.
We are Elsie Lewis, sophomore, and Avery Schroeder, junior, and we are currently serving as the 2022-23 Muscatine FFA chapter reporters. Our duties are to keep everyone informed and up to date with what is happening in the chapter. As the elected reporters, we have decided to create more social media and news articles about the chapter to ensure the public has the chance to participate in the upcoming fundraisers and events. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to receive reminders, announcements, and updates on the chapter.
