Spring is finally here and it is the best time to add a beautiful tree to your yard! Muscatine residents can purchase high quality landscape sized trees for a donation of $25 at the Muscatine Branching Out Spring Tree Sale on Thursday, May 13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p. m. at the Muscatine Environmental Learning Center’s picnic shelter.
This Muscatine Power and Water sponsored program allows their customers to plant shade trees that will provide environmental and energy efficiency for years to come. Muscatine Branching Out has helped make Muscatine a greener place since 1991, with the help of Muscatine Power and Water. This successful program has been providing residents with low cost trees for over 30 years. Every household is eligible for two trees. If a family cannot afford the donation fee, it will be waived.
Choices include a few spring bloomers, large shade trees and an evergreen option. These species are available at the sale: Sugar Tyme Crabapple, Braeburn Apple Tree, Sweetgum, Northern Pin Oak and Green Giant Arborvitae.
Trees must be preordered by Monday, May 10 via email to [email protected] by providing name, email, phone, and first and second choices for tree species. Pay when you pick up via cash or check only. Information and instructions to order can also be found on the Muscatine Branching Out Facebook page.
