Muscatine County voting information for Nov. 8 general election

Polling precincts will be open on election day, Nov. 8, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Absentee ballots by mail: Absentee ballot request forms can be submitted to the auditor’s office starting Aug. 30. Absentee ballot request forms must be received by the auditor’s office no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 24. A ballot may be mailed to you upon your request on an official absentee ballot request form. Official forms may be obtained by contacting the auditor’s office at 563-263-5821 or on the website at www.muscatinecountyiowa.gov. Absentee ballots must be returned to the auditor’s office no later than 8 p.m. on Nov. 8. Postmark dates do not count.

Absentee voting in the auditor’s office: Oct. 19 until Nov. 7 at 4:30 p.m. The auditor’s office is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended office hours are: Oct. 24- open until 5 p.m.; Nov. 4- open until 5 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 5- open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Voter registration information: You must be registered to vote. Registration may be done in the following ways:

  1. You may register in person at the auditor’s office – Deadline is Oct. 24 at 5 p.m.
  2. You may mail your registration to the auditor’s office, 414 East Third Street, Suite 201, Muscatine, IA 52761 – Deadline is Oct. 24 or have been postmarked by same date.
  3. You may register at your polling place on election day by presenting a current photo I.D. and proof of residency to the election officials.
