MUSCATINE, Iowa–In June, Muscatine FFA’s ag mechanics team had a successful end to their season, earning a second gold rating in the state competition.

Like many contests, ag mechanics includes several portions, including a written exam and more hands-on tests. Students demonstrated their knowledge of many aspects of mechanics, including electrical systems, environmental and natural resources systems (such as sustainable agricultural practices), energy systems, machinery and equipment systems, and structural systems. Additionally, students demonstrated their welding skills.
Four students competed in ag mechanics this year, Corwin McDonald, Elijah Trosen, Cory Shank, and Max Brendel. Individually, they placed eighth, 85th, seventh, and 55th.
