MUSCATINE, Iowa–The Muscatine City Council unanimously approved declaring two of the Muscatine Fire Department’s older ambulances surplus so they could donate them to Ukraine to help aid in their war effort. The Department will work with the Ukrainian Medical Association of America and their network of nonprofits to get the two ambulances to Ukrainian medical facilities that could use them. The Consulate General of Ukraine in Chicago estimates that more than 110 ambulances have gotten damaged during the Russian invasion and that approximately seven get damaged each day.

Councilmember Angela Lewis commended the Fire Department for making this donation. “I think this is a great, great use of those ambulances,” she said.
