MUSCATINE, Iowa – The intersection of Musser and Grandview will be closed to all traffic on Monday and Tuesday (September 20-21) as the water division of Muscatine Power and Water installs new valves. Traffic will be detoured at Houser Street either onto Houser or onto Sampson.

Grandview Avenue remains open to one lane of traffic (northbound) as reconstruction work continues. The Oregon-Warren intersection with Grandview is now open to through traffic and for those turning north onto Grandview Avenue.

The contractor anticipates having Grandview Avenue open to one lane of traffic from Oregon to the railroad tracks, but will close White at the same time to begin reconstruction work on that intersection. Paving of the west side two lanes from Pearl to Oregon is anticipated to start within the next two weeks.

2nd Street Streetscape enters final phase

Work on the final phase of the two-year 2nd Street Streetscape Project has begun. Reconstruction of the Chestnut Street intersection has been completed with the contractor opening that intersection to traffic Friday afternoon.

Curb and gutter along with sidewalk replacement will begin Monday in the 200 block of West 2nd Street with work on the north side to be followed by work on the south side. Reconstruction work in the parking lot at the Pine Street intersection will wrap up the project.

The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-October, weather permitting.

Paving completed on Park Avenue 4-to-3 Lane Conversion Project

Paving has now been completed on both the north segment and the south segment of the Park Avenue 4-to-3 Lane Conversion Project. Temporary stripping of the new lanes of traffic have been completed. Permanent stripping cannot be applied to new asphalt for two weeks so the stripping crew will return in two weeks to complete the work.

Additional work still remains and traffic control devices will remain in place as the work continues. Please be observant of lane changes during the next two weeks as the project wraps up.

Once completed, Park Avenue from Colorado-Clay to the Mad Creek bridge will be three lanes with one driving lane in each direction and a center turn lane. THE CENTER LANE IS NOT A PASSING LANE AND IS FOR LEFT TURNS OFF OF PARK AVENUE ONLY.
