New Beginnings for MCSA Domestic Violence Shelter is back!

I’m pleased to share that the New Beginnings fundraiser that supports the Muscatine Center for Social Action’s Domestic Violence shelter is coming back on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Geneva Golf & Country Club. This is the first time we’ve been able to hold the event since 2019. I say we because I am honored to serve on the fundraising committee that is hard at work planning the event. I hope you will save the date and plan to attend New Beginnings.

In the past, the fundraiser would generate anywhere from $50-70,000 in one evening, with all that money being used to ensure the domestic violence shelter doors remain open. Remember, the shelter receives no money from the state and is funded via MCSA, private donations, and fundraisers like New Beginnings.

You can expect some incredible silent and live auction items, a great meal, and a few more fun things the committee is currently working on. Something I can share is that we’ll once again have a custom Isabel Bloom figurine for sale that proceeds support the domestic violence shelter. It’s a gnome that will be created using the color purple, associated with domestic violence awareness. Look for more details on purchasing the Isabel Bloom figurine via the MCSA website and Facebook page. Also, if you are reading this and own a business or work at a business that would like to donate something for the event to be used in the silent or live auction, email me; at [email protected]; we would love to have your support! I would expect once tickets go on sale for New Beginnings, they will quickly sell out, and we’ll have a great room of nearly 250 on April 15, 2023 for the event.

The MCSA domestic violence shelter is a place that I will always support. My family and I will again host our annual Lemonade for a Cause fundraiser in the summer of 2023 and will do whatever it takes to ensure the New Beginnings fundraiser is a success this April. So, save the date, be prepared to purchase tickets to the event, and thank you in advance for supporting this worthwhile cause. The women and children who flee from domestic violence and reside at the shelter appreciate it, as do the staff and volunteers who are there daily making a difference.
