MUSCATINE, Iowa—With New Year’s resolutions still in full swing, Nutrition Outlet looks forward to helping people make good on their resolutions in their new location at 2114 Park Avenue, Muscatine. With more space and the same great expertise and services, Nutrition Outlet can help you start off your new year on the right foot.

20 years ago, Joe Meier first opened Nutrition Outlet. Through delivering products to health stores and gyms across the Midwest, he learned a lot and eventually decided to open a store of his own. Over time, Joe Meier became very knowledgeable about the different protein and sports supplements, vitamins, and pre-workout and energy supplements available and developed a knack for recommending the best products to pair with different workouts and diets to help customers achieve better health.

After opening Nutrition Outlet, Joe Meier contacted Yellow Pages to place a listing. Shelly, the woman who sold him the listing, later became his wife.

When the Meiers had their first child, Zane, Shelly Meier no longer wanted to commute for work and began cutting and styling hair, a career she had pursued shortly after graduating high school. When Joe Meier got injured and had to take medical leave both from his full-time job at HON and Nutrition Outlet, she stepped up to run the store’s day to day operations.

After Zane received an autism diagnosis, Shelly Meier began researching natural options to help him manage it. This interest eventually led her to become a certified aromatherapist and later a certified natural health professional, allowing her to begin offering a variety of health and wellness treatments. True to her original roots, Shelly Meier also added Escape Salon to Nutrition Outlet, helping customers benefit from her all-natural hair styling and coloring and skin treatments too.

Today, Nutrition Outlet offers a wide variety of products and services to help its clients feel their very best. Along with an unparalleled selection of sports and nutritional supplements, all at affordable prices, Nutrition Outlet also provides a wide variety of natural supplements too. Those looking for natural remedies for stress reduction and a variety of health problems can also take advantage of Shelly Meier’s naturopathy consultations and products such as Bach Flower Remedies, Echo Hydrogen Water (said to reduce inflammation and aging), and personalized aromatherapy blends.

At the core of their work, both Joe and Shelly Meier enjoy creating tailored solutions for people to help them achieve better health. “I enjoy getting to help people. I love when someone comes in with a problem and I can help them . . . It’s very rewarding to help people with their health,” shared Shelly Meier.

They also value the relationships they have fostered with the community. “We’re locally owned and people know us for being out in the community,” added Joe Meier.

Whatever resolutions you have made to get healthier this year, take them to Nutrition Outlet. Joe and Shelly Meier look forward to assisting you every step of the way.
