Starting our new school year, the MHS Auroran Today team is lucky to have a new designated photographer. Ronmel Lopez, a junior, has been taking pictures for a few years now and is looking forward to sharing his work with the students and staff at MHS.
“A few years ago, I started taking pictures of where I traveled. I just feel passionate about showing my experiences and I enjoy knowing the technology of the devices that I use,” said Ronmel.
Ronmel’s day-to-day life is pretty busy. He describes his perfect day as a day where he can be by himself.
“A perfect day would be waking up around 8:30 or 9 a.m. and being able to do things on my own time. I don’t like to be rushed by anyone. Eating a nice breakfast is important to me and enjoying the environment. Later, I might relax and play the piano or play a video game. Maybe I’ll go for a nice drive or go to the store while listening to music. I’ll also try to go to the Y and get a workout in. I’d end the day with a nice dinner and maybe watch a movie. ‘Wall-e’ is my favorite,” said Ronmel.

When he’s not enjoying one of his perfect days, he’s here at the high school. Ronmel says his least favorite thing about school is how loud the students can get in the hallways.
“A lot of things annoy me pretty easily. I hate obnoxious loud noises like, for example, babies crying. People who are rude also get on my nerves,” said Ronmel.
Despite this, school is important to Ronmel. He enjoys getting to see his friends and having a class that he can work out in.
“Along with personal fitness, this class (journalism) is my favorite class because it sort of feels like a free period, and I enjoy talking with everyone and getting to know them better,” said Ronmel.
This is Ronmel’s first year taking journalism. Because of his awesome photography skills, he was offered the position as our photographer, which was an opportunity he could not turn down.
“This whole thing kind of just came across my plate, and of course I took the offer. I was happy when everyone liked my pictures and work. Since I enjoy my hobby of taking pictures I thought, why not?” said Ronmel.
Ronmel is looking forward to what’s coming in the future, starting with the cooler weather.
“I’m excited for fall because it’s the beginning of the cold weather, and I like wearing sweatpants and hoodies. When I leave school, I like to feel the cold breeze outside,” said Ronmel: “I’m also looking forward to this school year and keeping good grades and having healthy relationships with people. I want to improve my social skills as well and experience new things. I feel like I can really do that through journalism, which I am excited about,” said Ronmel.
Stay tuned to see more of Ronmel’s pictures coming in the staff’s upcoming stories!
