“Regardless of what the investigation finds, the actions you’ve described are never acceptable,” DaBeet said in his email to the parents. “Given this is a personnel matter, neither the Board nor District administration can share details of what may or may not transpire with the employees in question.”

He followed up by saying the school district wishes to provide a safe learning environment for all students. DaBeet also said high school administrators are going to speak to the students in the German I class.

Superintendent Clint Christopher released an official statement about the incident on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

On Monday, Oct. 2,  Muscatine High School was made aware of a situation involving a substitute teacher in a German I class, Christopher said. The school district also knows that two videos were recorded in the German I classroom during the incident.

Given this is a personnel matter, the school district cannot share details of what may or may not transpire with the employee in question. As a school district, we strive to provide all students and staff with a safe and supportive learning/working environment.
