DES MOINES, Iowa – Feb. 25, Senator Mark Lofgren, R–Muscatine, announced his bid for a second term in the Iowa Senate representing District 46.

Currently, Lofgren serves as the chair of the Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee and the vice chair of the Government Oversight Committee. Additionally, he serves on the Appropriations, Education, Local Government, and Veterans Affairs committees.

“I am proud of the work we have done to lower the tax burden for hard-working Iowans and their families, roll back regulations hindering Iowa businesses, and create an environment in Iowa where families can prosper,” said Lofgren. “As the chair of the Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee, we are constantly working on legislation to encourage a better business environment and economic opportunity for everyone who lives in our state. We have already passed historic income tax relief for Iowans, but I know we can continue our work in making Iowa a better place for everyone to work and live.”

Lofgren earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Iowa. His professional experience includes careers in both the real estate and investment industries, formerly owning and operating Lofgren Investments, and running a real estate business. He currently works as a real estate associate with Exit Realty Group in Muscatine, where he specializes in both residential and commercial real estate. He is a certified negotiation expert; he earned his Chartered Financial Consultant, Certified Residential Specialist, Graduate of Real Estate Institute, and Accredited Commercial Professional designations. He also served two terms in the Iowa House.

Lofgren has lived in Iowa his whole life. He married his wife, Paula, 30 years ago, and they have four children, Emily, Olivia, Maggie, and Markus, as well as three granddaughters and one grandson. Lofgren formerly coached track, basketball, and soccer for the Muscatine Community Y and Youth Sports Foundation. He also enjoys running in his free time.
