ATALISSA, Iowa–On Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 8:32 a.m., the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office dispatched to a residence in the City of Atalissa due to a complaint of a vehicle theft.
While investigating the theft, the deputies located the stolen vehicle a short distance away. The vehicle had two suspects in it. At the time of the deputy’s arrival, the vehicle attempted pull a second vehicle from a residential yard.
The male driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene in the stolen vehicle and immediately crashed due to intervention by the deputy on scene. The driver subsequently fled on foot. Law enforcement took the second subject into custody.
During the investigation, investigators found that the second vehicle matched one stolen from Davenport in late 2022. The suspects had links to both stolen vehicles.
Investigators located the driver after a brief foot chase and took him into custody. The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office transported Keegan Leonard Lee Gravert (driver), 26, of Coralville and Crystal Marie Patterson (passenger), 22, of West Liberty to the Muscatine County Jail.
Gravert received charges for two counts of theft, first degree, interference with official acts, prescription drug violation, possession of burglar tools, and driving while barred. In addition to the aforementioned charges, Gravert also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Scott County.
Patterson received charges for two counts of theft, first degree, interference with official acts, prescription drug violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglar tools, and escape.
The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Iowa State Patrol, West Liberty Police, Wilton Police and Atalissa EMS.
