Katie Brown, a language arts teacher at Muscatine High School, has really seen Ariyana Lawson Lawson blossom into a confident and thoughtful student. “Lawson stands out in the classroom. She walks in every day with a smile on her face and is truly happy to be there (even the last class of the day!). She is a student that works hard and can have fun while doing it. She helps other students, asks insightful and thought-provoking questions and is a positive influence on the class.”

What is your favorite thing about school? “I love school because I am a social person. I love expressing my thoughts and learning new things even if the new thing doesn’t make sense. I’m also a very hands-on and creative person. My favorite classes are welding, art, and math. Although they’re different, they are all challenging and take a lot of thought and concentration. I also enjoy making people feel better and helping people.”
