MUSCATINE, Iowa–This winter, the Muscatine County Soil and Water Conservation District will once again offer native wildflowers, grasses, and bareroot trees for sale. They will accept orders at their office at 3500 Oakview Drive, Suite A, Muscatine. Anyone interested in purchasing plants must submit their orders and pay in full by Feb. 28.

The money raised from these plant sales will go toward scholarships, educational programs, and other community projects. The District will also sell Plantskydd, a rain-resistant animal repellent to help protect your vegetation from deer and rabbits. Plantskydd comes as a liquid or powder in prices ranging from $13 to $60. The Diane Scott Memorial Scholarship represents just one of the community outreach projects the Muscatine County Soil and Water Conservation District helps fund. This year, the district, in conjunction with the Diane Scott Memorial Scholarship and Conservation Districts of Iowa, will offer the Diane Scott Memorial Scholarship for 2022.

The $1,000 scholarship will go to one Muscatine County high school senior. It helps pay for the first year of education at the collegiate level while pursuing a program of study in a field encompassing agriculture or natural resources. 

Applicants can find the Diane Scott Memorial Scholarship forms at the Muscatine County Soil and Water Conservation District office, the ISU Extension office, or on the Conservation Districts of Iowa website.  Applicants must submit their scholarship applications to the SWCD Office by Friday, February 18, 2022.
