A spooky soiree will be held in Muscatine on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Crossroads is hosting a free-will donation Halloween Dance at The Rendezvous located at 3127 Lucas Street in Muscatine from 4 – 6 p.m., said Megan Francis, Marketing and Communications Director at Crossroads.

“It’s geared toward the people with disabilities,” Francis said. “Their families, their friends and caregivers – just to have a great Halloween party together.”
Light refreshments will be served and Tony Tone Loconsole serving as D.J. for the dance.
This dance is in partnership with Faith United Church of Christ, Francis said. The church reached out to Crossroads about holding an inclusive event that celebrates people with disabilities.
“It’s open to everybody,” Francis said. “Not just Crossroads clients so I’m hoping that everybody will join us.”
Pastor Paris White said her congregation at First United Church of Christ is open and affirming.
“But basically means we’re all-inclusive,” White said. “That God’s love is unconditional so we do our best to extend that to absolutely everybody. Part of the initiative is to include people who are differently abled or have mental illnesses or literally anything.”
Some of the clients from Crossroads attend church at First United Church of Christ. White thought having a dance for them would be fun.
“We want to bring joy to the community and to the people and to their families,” White added.
Francis would like everyone to come in their Halloween costume.
“They need to come, be ready to have fun and dance,” Francis said. “It’s just really what everybody wants to make of it.”
The event will be two hours long but those attending aren’t expected to dance that long. This is one of the first events being held in Muscatine to kick off the Halloween holiday.
Francis would like to thank Cindy Carver at the Rendezvous and Tony for volunteering their time for this event.
“They are both so committed to Crossroads, to our population and to people with disabilities being included in the community,” Francis said. “When I mentioned it to them they both said ‘Yep, we’re on board.’ ”
