MUSCATINE, Iowa–At the gym, weight lifters strive to up their game, working up to heavier weights and more intense workouts to build muscle. This month, the Muscatine Community Y upped their game by replacing their previous weight machines with Life Fitness Insignia Series equipment.
Always looking to the future, the Muscatine Community Y purchased their Strive weight machines 18 years ago in 2004. A durable purchase, it served the Y’s patrons satisfactorily for many years, but the Y’s staff realized the time had come to replace it. “That system served us well, but it was time for something new,” observed Nicole McCleary, marketing and development director for the Muscatine Community Y.
While searching for suitable replacements, the Y’s staff decided that Life Fitness’s Insignia Series weight machines would suit them best, as the company’s dedication to constantly improving their products has led them to create long-lasting easy to use machines. “The new equipment is very smooth, and we’re getting great feedback from members and guests so far,” reported Mel Steckel, health promotions services director for the Muscatine Community Y.
Though the 17 new weight machines exactly match the types of machines they replace, the do have some differences from their predecessors. If a regular Y user has questions about how the new machines work, or if someone who has not visited the Y recently would like to fully understand the weight room, exercise area staff will happily assist them. People using the equipment may always ask staff members a quick question. For members wanting a more extensive run down of how each machine works, they may set up exercise area orientations, where exercise area staff will show them how each machine works and answer any questions that may arise.
A part of the Y’s overall plans to keep their equipment in as good of condition as possible and to provide members with a variety of ways to exercise, the new equipment joins several other new additions in the weight area. Recently added weight benches and weight sets, placed on new mats next to additional mirrors, provide many spaces and ways for people to work on weight training.
A major positive change for the Y, Steckel and Muscatine Community Y Executive Director Bret Olson both take pride in the upgrade. “We’re very excited to add these excellent weight training machines,” Olson stated. “We have been researching for awhile and saving funds so that we could make a critical investment in our facility to further benefit our members.”
“We’re proud and excited to be able to bring this to our members and guests and continue to upgrade our exercise area,” Steckel, added.
