MUSCATINE, Iowa–Saturday, June 3, the Theo Wolf Foundation will host its third annual Strolling for Safe Sleep charity walk and “funraiser” to support safe sleep education and honor the life of Theo Wolf. Held on Theo’s fourth heavenly birthday, Theo Wolf Foundation President Lisa Wolf promises this year’s walk (and the following family fun day) will provide a huge community celebration.
The walk will begin at 8 a.m. June 3 at Susan Clark Junior High School (600 Kindler Avenue in Muscatine). Walkers will complete a one-and-a-half-mile loop along Dawson, Houser, and Fulliam Streets before walking up Kindler Avenue and returning to the school. Registrations will cost $35 for walkers aged 12 and up and $30 for two to 11 years olds. Walkers may register at any time on the Strolling for Safe Sleep event website. Proceeds from the walk will allow the Theo Wolf Foundation to continue offering safe sleep education in various settings and to provide safe sleep kits for infants.
Following the walk, anyone may attend a free family fun day until 1 p.m. outside Susan Clark, regardless of if they did the walk. Packed with activities, attendees can play carnival-style games, jump in bounce houses, explore large vehicles (like police cars, fire trucks, tractors, and semi-trucks), attend a petting zoo, do a dunk tank, vote in a pie in the face contest, shop a bake sale, enter a silent auction, and even enjoy lunch from food trucks. Along with the activities, more than 20 community organizations, including Child Care Resources and Referral, Crossroads, the Diversity Service Center of Iowa, the Eastern Iowa Mental Health Region Crisis System, Impact Fitness and Nutrition, the Iowa Donor Network, the Iowa SIDS Foundation, Lutheran Services in Iowa (performing car seat safety checks), the M;caela’s Hope Foundation, the Mississippi Valley Child Protection Center, the Muscatine Art Center, the Muscatine Center for Social Action, the Muscatine County Conservation Board, the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, the Muscatine Fire Department, the Muscatine Police Department, Pearl City Chiropractic, Rock Valley Physical Therapy, Safe Families for Children, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, the Theo Wolf Foundation (handing out safe sleep kits), Trinity Muscatine Public Health, United Way of Muscatine, and UnityPoint Health–Trinity Muscatine, will attend the fair, providing information and possibly free giveaways.

With approximately 3,500 infants in the United States dying from unsafe sleep practices each year, the Theo Wolf Foundation hopes many in the community will generously support their efforts to provide more education and the tools to keep babies safe. “Supporting our Strolling for Safe Sleep event helps us raise awareness and funds so we can help keep as many infants safe while sleeping as possible and save another family from the heartbreak of losing a child,” shared Wolf.
She also hopes the community will unite to make Theo’s fourth heavenly birthday the happiest to date. “It’s such an amazing sight, seeing family, friends, and community members come together to remember and celebrate Theo and support infant safe sleep,” Wolf observed: “I’m excited for all the new community partners attending this year, as well as all the fun activities we have planned. Our community is amazing, and we can’t say thank you enough to our generous and supportive community and sponsors.”
