Santa Claus will soon send his elves down to Riverside Park on December 6th to hide thousands of candy canes as the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department (Parks and Rec) hosts their annual Candy Cane Hunt.

Parks and Rec invites the community to come and join in on some deliciously good fun down on the riverfront. The hunt will officially get underway at 6:00 pm. on Friday, December 6th, outside the Pearl City Station (the Red Brick Building) in Riverside Park.

Children may gather sweet treats to keep and will receive a prize for each candy cane found. Organizers will sprinkle “special” candy canes around that participants can redeem inside Pearl City Station for a special toy. Parks and Rec will set up areas in the green space near the basketball courts for children in two age groups. These include pre-kindergarten through first graders in one group and second through fourth graders in the other.

The Candy Cane Hunt will take place in the dark, so bring a flashlight if you wish. Sponsors will provide LED flashlights if you do not have one. Parks and Rec encourages participants to bring a bag to hold their candy canes and prizes. For more information, contact Parks and Rec at (563) 263-0241.
