Why are you running for election?

I have worked in both education and private business, and I have seen firsthand how state policies can either help or hinder success in both. I decided to run for office because I want to pass policies to help our community grow, help families prosper and prepare our children for success and achievement both in school and beyond.

What are the 3 most important issues facing your office over the next term?

Getting Iowans back to work after the results of the pandemicGetting Iowans back to work is only the first step in our road to recovery, but is one of the most important because it helps families put food on the table and a roof over their heads. Helping our state grow and create more opportunities for Iowans once again is going to be crucial in our state’s recovery from the pandemicSupport policies that promote growth – support policies to decrease the tax burden on individuals so they can have more money in their pocket – and continue to find ways to have less regulations for small businesses

Support of Law EnforcementLocal law enforcement officers have some of the most difficult jobs in our area and they need our support. I got to know many of them from my time as a board member with the Burlington Area Crime Stoppers. They are great people firmly committed to keeping our communities safe. I will be a staunch defender of them and oppose any efforts to defund police.Oppose any efforts to defund the police –
Supporting our Students, Teachers and Parents in the Educational processEducation is the foundation for success, however it is not a guarantee. One thing this Pandemic has showed all of us is that we must be flexible and patient while navigating through this school year.I will listen to what educators are saying by spending time in the schools and taking those concerns to Des Moines.

What is the most important thing you would like voters to know about you that they may not?

I have a wide array of life experiences which I believe is an asset to being a legislator – from being a Division 1 athlete to working in the NBA to being an educator and then being self employed after working in private business…all before I am 50 years old.

I know Muscatine County – having worked for both West Liberty Schools and Muscatine Schools for almost 10 years and having lived in Muscatine. I enjoyed my time there and worked with some really great people. It is a very supportive and giving community.

SE Iowa needs a voice at the State Capitol in Des Moines with a “seat at the table” and I believe that I can be that voice.
