ROCK ISLAND, IL–
UnityPoint Health – Trinity is celebrating its 400th Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) patient to successfully receive this life-changing procedure in the Quad Cities. This was the 12th patient helped at UnityPoint Health – Trinity so far in 2022. The first Quad Cities TAVR case was performed in 2016. The 400th procedure, was performed by Bouyella Reddy, MD, and Param Singh, MD, of Cardiovascular Medicine, P.C.
Additionally, Trinity is celebrating earning a 3-star TAVR rating for high-quality outcomes for TAVR patients from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/American College of Cardiology (STS/ACC TVT Registry). UnityPoint Health – Trinity is the only site in Illinois to earn the highest achievement.
“We are proud to be the Quad Cities’ premier heart care center. What we care about most is the health and wellness of the people we care for. These milestones are a testament to the quality of care we provide and made even more special to achieve during Heart Month when we have enhanced focus on heart health,” says Kathy Pulley, Director of Cardiology Services, UnityPoint Health – Trinity.
“This wouldn’t be possible without our highly-skilled care team and physicians we partner with at UnityPoint Health who continually look to improve safety. We thank them for their dedication to providing high quality care to the people in our community.”
The Trinity team performs TAVR procedures in the state-of-the-art cardiac cath lab hybrid operating room suite at the Trinity Rock Island hospital campus. Patients with severe aortic stenosis must qualify for TAVR based on structural heart team evaluations for any combination of comorbidities, frailty, and/or organ system compromises. These are guidelines set forth by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. A cardiologist refers patients with severe aortic stenosis for further evaluation by the UnityPoint Health – Trinity structural heart team.
