The state champion West Liberty FFA floriculture team, consisting of Seth Axsom, Ava Morrison, Pearson Hall, and Sophie Buysse won the honors of top team in general knowledge, problem solving, identification, production, and corsage design. Individually, Seth placed highest in general knowledge, Ava placed highest in problem solving, Pearson placed highest in identification, and Sophie placed highest in production.The West Liberty FFA nursery and landscaping team, which included Cole Daufeldt, Cael Daufeldt, Cameron Iske, and Caden Laughlin earned a state championship. As a team, the students earned top honors in equipment safety and operation, plant and equipment identification, landscape estimation, and power blower and line trimmer use. Individually, Cole placed first in plant and equipment identification, and Caden placed first in landscape estimation. Advisor Zach Morris and FFA Southwest Vice President George Martin joined them after they received their awards.Individually, Seth placed first in floriculture and Ava earned reserve state champion. Pearson placed fourth and Sophie placed sixth. Cole placed as the state champion individually in nursery and landscaping with Cale earning reserve state champion. Caden earned third place overall and Cameron placed fifth.
